What's in the kit?

All our dolls houses are precision cut on the latest in computer technology, guaranteeing all components fit exactly. In fact you will be amazed how easy it is to construct these kits - it takes minutes not hours.

These superb dolls houses are constructed in MDF - Medium Density Fiberboard - which has a smooth surface, ready for painting, with no splinters. The windows are machined to accept the individual MDF sashes, giving an authentic appearance to the front of your dolls house.

All our kits include stairs, cills and chimneys and glue. All you need to be able to assemble your dolls house as soon as you receive it.

All of our houses are 12th scales (1" to the foot) unless otherwise stated.

What's the difference between the MDF kits and the Ply kits?

With the MDF kits, all parts are supplied pre-cut. The panels are routed and grooved to ensure easy assembly. For this reason build time is somewhat quicker than the Ply kits.

With the Ply kits all of the parts have been precision cut into the sheets of wood, ready for you to press out and prepare for assembly. Some parts may need light sanding before assembly. The nature of the plywood used means that the parts have fewer guiding slots or grooves, and are slightly more demanding to build than the MDF kits, requiring support in the correct position whilst glue is drying.

The extra work in manufacture of the MDF kits is reflected in a slightly higher price. Once assembled, both Ply kits and MDF kits are of an equally superb quality and will become cherished family heirlooms.

What instructions are provided?

A comprehensive instruction book is provided, clearly illustrated to show you how to put the kit together. It should be studied closely prior to starting assembly of the kit. You should also check that you can identify all the parts described and that everything in the kit is complete.

What else will I need before I start?

You will need a few very basic tools: A bradawl to make pilot holes for the screw-on hinges, a small screwdriver for the screws and a bottle of wood glue to glue the panels and other wood parts together. We use Evo-Stik Resin "W" Extra Fast, a very strong woodworking adhesive. Also some fine sandpaper to smooth off any rough edges is useful. At some stages you will ideally need to weight down the panels while the glue dries. We have found a few heavy books are invaluable for this purpose!
